Dear Friends:
It is with great sorrow that the Moshe Dayan
Center announces the death of our much-beloved
colleague, friend and Director of Research,
Professor Joseph Kostiner, on August 19, 2010.
One of the world's leading scholars on the
history of tribes and states in the Arabian
Peninsula and the Persian Gulf, Yossi, as he was
known to all, was a central pillar of the Center,
the Department of Middle East History and TAU's
School of History for almost three decades,
sharing his broad and vast knowledge of the human
sciences for the benefit of all. Moreover, he
was a true gentleman, sensitive, cultured,
generous with his time, and a man with a keen
sense of humor. He was loved and admired by his
colleagues and legions of students alike, and
will be sorely missed. Our hearts are with his
family – wife Rikki, daughter Na'ama, sons Uriya
and Nadav, and aunt Lydia – at this difficult time.
Prof. Eyal Zisser
Director
