OASIS - The 11th Meeting on Optical Engineering and Science in Israel First Announcement Ganei Hataarucha Exhibition Grounds, Tel Aviv, Israel * March 26-27, 2007 *Deadline for Abstract Submission: December 31st , 2006* Dear Friends and Colleagues, It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Optical Engineering and Science annual meetings in Israel are being renewed. The purpose of the meetings is to be a showpiece for Israeli electro-optics and laser research and technologies as well as to present the latest advances in the field worldwide. The upcoming meeting also coincides with the 70th "birthday party" of ElOp the largest electro-optics company in Israel. This meeting will focus on encouraging interdisciplinary research as well as international cooperation. The meeting will take place over two days with three parallel sessions each day. An exhibition of optical equipment and systems will take place on site parallel to the sessions. I am counting on your help to make this a very successful event. With over ten thousand electro-optics professionals involved in six universities, four colleges and over 250 companies, optics has continued to grow into new fields and applications. Remarkably, the burst of the 2000 optical communications bubble did little to slow the growth of the industry in Israel. The program of the forthcoming meeting reflects some areas of traditional interest such as Optical Communications, Optical Inspection, Optics in Medicine and Remote Sensing as well as exciting developments in Homeland Security, Spatial Light Modulators, Displays, Illumination, Lasers, Non Linear Opticsand Environmental Monitoring. Emerging new fields such as Quantum Optics, Micro- and Nano- Opticsencompass novel discoveries, and are expected to rapidly permeate the industry. The target audience includes optical scientists and engineers working in all these fields. In addition we encourage students from all institutions of higher learning to participate in this meeting. It will expose them to the latest research and development, and help them interact with representatives of Academia and Industry. Looking forward to seeing you all at our OASIS, Prof Abraham Katzir, Chairman, Organizing Committee** * * *Key Topics*: 1. Optical Communications (Zeev Zalevsky Bar Ilan University) 2.
