Title: A New Approach to Edge Detection Instability.
Abstract:
In the late 90's Gelb and Tadmor introduced concentration factors to detect
edges using spectral data. In this talk we describe a related technique for
detecting edges in spectral data. We produce detectors that are in a well
defined sense optimal. We show how to design detectors that function
"optimally" in the presence of both noise and smooth signals and we discuss
to what extent our definition of optimal is reasonable.
